Does your playground need a Shade Sail?
Shade sails are versatile and aesthetically pleasing structures that provide shade and protection from the sun's harmful UV rays in outdoor spaces. They are typically made from durable, UV-resistant fabric stretched tightly between multiple anchor points to create a taut, sail-like canopy. Overall, shade sails play a vital role in promoting sun safety, enhancing outdoor comfort, and supporting a healthy and active lifestyle in New Zealand.
At PlayGear by Oatgo Engineering our Shade Sails are custom made to suit the area required. Our Shade sails are made from knitted shade cloth which has been specifically designed for use in tension structures and shade sails. The cloth is unique with its high tensile strengths in the warp and weft directions as well as its almost equal elongation properties in both warp and weft directions when under tension. We use strong powder-coated, galvanised steel posts that are concreted into the ground. You can have a stylish twist look by having different height fixing points. Our shade sails not only look great but will last for a very long time. They provide a high level of shade and as much as 98% UV protection. They are fitted with tensioners to keep the shade sail taut.
We also proudly offer a removal and install service around the Dunedin area. Installations are typically performed at the end of school term 1 (April) while removals are completed at the end of school term 3 (September) during the school holidays. By removing the shade sails during the winter months you are protecting the longevity of the shade sail.
